El Paso

The next stop was El Paso, TX. I had never been there before so I decided to stop and checkout the downtown. It is right on the border with Mexico and has a bunch of tall buildings in the downtown. However on the other side of the border is a shanty town.
There is a foot bridge to Mexico
I had dinner in El Paso and then I continued on into New Mexico. I was slammed by a thunderstorm and down pour at the state line and visitors center. I had hoped to camp at a campground between Las Cruces and White Sands National Monument in the Organ Mountains but it was closed when I arrived, so I continued on to Alamogordo, NM.
