I camped at a private campground in Fort Davis which is the highest town in Texas.  I visited the old fort, Fort Davis.  It has a lot of historical significance.  It was important during the westward expansion and the building of the railroads.  It was abandoned by the military twice, and now they are in process or restoring it to it’s former glory.  The day I arrived (August 25th) was the 100 year anniversary of the national park system and they were planning a celebration that included cake, but I didn’t stick around for it.
